Gotham City (/ˈɡɒθəm/ GOTH-əm), or simply Gotham, is a fictional city appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, best known as the home of Batman. The city was first identified as Batman's place of residence in Batman (December 1940) and has since been the primary setting for stories featuring the character. Gotham City is traditionally depicted as being located in the state of New Jersey.

Gotham City, or simply Gotham, is an American city rife with corruption and crime. It is the home of its iconic protector Batman. The origins of Gotham City are some shrouded in mystery. Many millenniums ago, an evil warlock was buried alive beneath what would one day become the central island of Gotham. It is alleged that while the warlock laid in a state of torpor, his evil essence seeped into the soil, poisoning the ground with his dark, corrupt touch.
Gotham City was formed 1980 in the Swedish city Umeå, they released their first demo in 1981 which featured members: Ola Ohlsson - Vocals, Mårten Edlund - Guitar, Björn Erik Melander - Bass and Jonas Östman - Drums. Some of the other songs would also show up on the 1983 EP Black Writs. Later in 1983 Ola Ohlsson quits Gotham City and Anders Zackrisson takes over as the vocalist, a 9-track demo is recorded. In 1984 the monster is released; their first and only full-lenght album The Unknown. This would also be their last official release. 1985: Gotham City releases a live demo entitled Live in Umeå, these recordings where orginally made for Swedish Radio (2/3-1985) and there where small talk with a reporter between the songs.
Gotham City Sirens is an American comic book series that was written by Paul Dini with art by Guillem March and published by DC Comics. The term Gotham City Sirens refers to three of the most popular female villains inhabiting Gotham City: Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy. The first issue of the series was released in June 2009, as a part of the Batman: Reborn relaunch of DC's entire line of comic book titles featuring the superhero Batman.
