Joe Stampley (born June 6, 1943, Springhill, Webster Parish, Louisiana) is an American country music singer. Stampley, Jr. (1920–2000) and Mary E. Stampley (1924–2004). In the 1960s, Stampley was the main singer for the rock group, The Uniques (not to be confused with the Jamaican and doo-wop groups with the same name). The Uniques were based out of Shreveport, about fifty-five miles southwest of Springhill, and began performing in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. When You Were Blue and I Was Green".

Released the same year as Varese's The Best of Joe Stampley, Razor & Tie's Good Ol' Boy: His Greatest Hits compliments the other label's collection. Where Varese's 18-track disc focuses on Stampley's early-'70s recordings for Dot/ABC, this concentrates on his work for Epic. The two taken together provide a full picture of Stampley's career as a hitmaker, but as individual collections they can be problematic, since the Varese doesn't have as many big hits but does have better music (and, unfortunately, is now out of print), while the Razor & Tie has the big hits (including four duets with Bandy) but runs out.

Billie Joe Armstrong (born February 17, 1972) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and actor. Armstrong serves as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter, and lead guitarist of the punk rock band Green Day, co-founded with Mike Dirnt. He is also a guitarist and vocalist for the punk rock band Pinhead Gunpowder, and provides lead vocals for Green Day's side projects Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network and The Longshot.

Moe Bandy & Joe Stampley, Moe Bandy & Joe Stampley 1975. Bandy had another successful duet that year with Joe Stampley. The pair released Just Good Ol' Boys, which became one of the most popular albums of the year, spawning the number one title track and the Top Ten "Holding the Ba. Like his pairing with Fricke, the duet with Stampley was an award-winning combination, as the duo won the Country Music Association's Duet of the Year and the ACM's Duo of the Year awards in 1980. Bandy also had a pair of major solo hits with the number one "I Cheated Me Right Out of Her" and the Top Ten "Barstool Mountain. Appropriately, the sound of the singer's records changed as well. No longer were they modern-day honky tonk; they were slicker and more pop-oriented. Ironically, the change in sound didn't bring about more commercial success.
