Rhythm of Life was originally released in 1983 & recorded in New York & London by renowned producer Alex Sadkin. This collection of nine polished electro-funk cuts features stellar guest musicians such as Bernie Worrell (c) Anton Fier (Feelies/Golden Palominos) & Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins). Paul Haig's first solo release after his punk days with Josef K gets a jampacked release, including the entire EP remixed by Bruce Forest back in the day-although, most of the mixes are not as good as the original LP mixes. I also wish they had included Paul's first solo single "Running Away" as a bonus track. Trading in guitars for synths and drum machines, this first solo album follows the synthpop formula to perfection, featuring female background vocals that reek of Human League, and upbeat synthpop gems in the style of Blancmange, as are the vocals.
Rhythm of Life is a Paul Haig album originally released in 1983 on Island Records and recorded in New York and London by renowned producer Alex Sadkin. In 2003, LTM released the first CD version with five bonus tracks taken from the 1984 mini album Rhythm of Life Remixes.
Paul Haig Biography. Together with Orange Juice, Aztec Camera and The Go-Betweens, Josef K were one of several million dollar quartets on Postcard Records, recording five smart singles and an album, The Only Fun In Town. Touring the album during July and August of 1981, however, the band split after a final show in Glasgow. At this stage his new material was not so very different from late period Josef K classics such as Heaven Sent, Adoration and Heart of Song, albeit with a greater emphasis on stripped-down funk rhythms.
