Roland Van Campenhout, inmiddels 74, met diepe wortels in blues en folk, is iedere muziekstijl meester, gaande van . .azz naar ethno tot psychedelic. Eind de jaren ’60 ging hij op zoek naar zijn roots in de blues, onder meer met zijn beste vriend Rory Gallagher. Met deze ervaringen aan de basis gaat de baardige man de experimentele tour op en davert zo op de eeuwwisseling af. Steeds met zijn legendarische, herkenbare sound. Een levende legende, een archetype van een uitstervend ras; de ‘Sound Magician’.

Roland Van Campenhout or in short Roland (Boom, 1944) is a Flemish blues musician. Roland grew up in the Rupel area. His father, a jazzmusician, drowned when he was 5. Roland left home at the age of 14. He did not get involved with music until the age of 20. He played in the skifflegroup, the William & Roland Skiffle Group, and the folk duo Miek en Roel
