Baden Powell de Aquino, usually known simply as Baden Powell (Brazilian Portuguese: ; 6 August 1937 – 26 September 2000), was one of the most prominent and celebrated Brazilian guitarists and guitar composers of his time. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing. He performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and música popular brasileira. He performed on stage during most of his lifetime.

Lord Baden Powell, born as Robert Stephenson Smyth Powell, is known all over the world as the founder of Boys Scout and Girl Guide movements. However, not many are aware of the fact that he was also a successful military leader, an author and an artist. During his thirty four years of military service, he won many wars and was felicitated a number of times for his courageous and innovative military techniques. Here he was engaged in some non combating missions with the Zulus. Very soon he became a Brevet Major and was mentioned in the Dispatches. In 1889, General Smyth became the Governor of Malta and Baden Powel served as his Military Secretary and Aide-de-camp for three years. During this period, he also served as an intelligence officer for the Director of Military Intelligence. It is said that he traveled to different places in the guise of a butterfly collector.
Lord Baden Powell (1857-1941) was a British general and founder of the modern Scouting movement. Baden-Powell became a national hero during the Boer war of 1899-1900 when, with a small garrison, he commanded the defence of Mafeking. During the Boer War, Baden-Powell wrote a Guide to Scouting. This was published in 1903 and was a best-seller. Initially meant for military purposes, after the war, he felt it could be used as a focus for young boys to give them more meaning in life.

After Baden-Powell's father died in 1860, to identify her children with her late husband's fame and set her own children apart from their half-siblings and cousins, his mother styled the family name Baden-Powell (the name was eventually legally changed by Royal Licence on 30 April 1902. Baden-Powell was the son of The Reverend Baden Powell, a Savilian Professor of Geometry at Oxford University and Church of England priest and his third wife, Henrietta Grace Smyth (3 September 1824 – 13 October 1914), eldest daughter of Admiral William Henry Smyth
