After two years of silence it's time for us to announce that the band has parted amicably with Drummer . Volgard, who returned to the fold for European dates and our short US tour. As a founding member of the band, Volgard was not only instrumental in crafting our sound and ethic, he was also responsible for recording, engineering and directing many of our early efforts. Volgard will continue to compose and create with myself in an as yet unnamed project. based both in London and his hometown of Lodz, Poland

Since 1993, Kawir have been one of the unsung pillars of the classic Greek black metal sound. While the names Rotting Christ, Varathron, and Necromantia are incredibly important to that style's foundation, it was Kawir who kept the faith during the '90s and into the new millennium. In 1994, the then-young band released two pivotal 7"s, Eumenides and a split with Japan's Sigh - on the pivotal Cacophonous Records, no less - and then followed those up in 1996 with the To Cavirs MLP, which is the first truly pagan-oriented record to hail from the Greek black metal scene
In 2006 the fraternity of S. Vrath ( Scythian, Crom Dubh) and J. Scourger ( Deceptor ) spawned three hymns of godless savagery in the form of a self-released demo tape. Heavily indebted to cults such as Destroyer 666, Poison (Ger), Absu and early Bathory, this debut offering’s original fifty incarnations were quickly devoured by adherents of bestial black/thrash metal. I'll take a new Scythian album as well, please. Matthew 5:5 - "Blessed are the meek: for they shall Beherit the earth. Did you pick up the Scythian/Kawir split man? Whet the appetite nicely. Craven Idol are class, will definitely be picking the new one up.
SCYTHIAN is one such treasure. Hailing from London the band already have two excellent albums under their belts, despite rarely playing gigs, and have only recently begun to gain wider notoriety with the recent release of their second Hubris in Excelsis. Then followed six years of limited activity from the band with only a handful of gigs and a single song on a split release with Greeks KAWIR. The announcement that the band would release their sophomore album on the well-known underground label Hells Headbangers in late 2015 caused a stir and resurgence of interest in the band. Both SCYTHIAN records takes the aggression and anger that is a staple of the more extreme thrash scene, executed by bands such as DESASTER and DESTRÖYER 666, and manages to combine it with the more epic sound that fans of Viking-era BATHORY are familiar with.
