Indochine (French pronunciation: ) is a French pop rock and new wave band formed in Paris in 1981. It became very successful in the Francophonie, Europe and Latin America in the 1980s, with songs like "L'Aventurier" and "Canary Bay". Following the release of several critically acclaimed, but commercially unsuccessful, albums in the 1990s, the group returned to stardom with the release of Paradize in 2002.
Nicolas Henri Didier Sirchis (French pronunciation: ; born June 22, 1959 in Antony, Hauts-de-Seine), better known by his stage name Nicola Sirkis, is the frontman and singer of the French rock band Indochine. He is the only remaining member of the original line-up of the band which he formed in 1981 with a friend, Dominique Nicolas, soon to be joined by his twin brother Stéphane and Dimitri Bodianski.

Indochine are a potent reminder of just what can come from the chance meeting of two young men, in this case Nicola Cirkis and Dominique Nicolas. They both joined a band called Spies as their singer and their bass player, respectively, and became friends soon after they joined. Unfortunately at the time, they were kicked out of the band for not being proficient enough to keep up with the rest of the band, but it was no matter to them. Indochine have one of the most inspiring stories in rock and roll, and are an outstanding live band to boot. For that reason, they come highly recommended.
