Cleaned and repaired for display in the new National Air and Space Museum, September 1975. Louis is the aircraft that Charles A. Lindbergh used for the first non-stop solo trans-Atlantic flight from New York to Paris on May 20, 1927. Lindbergh gave the plane to the Smithsonian in 1928, flying it from St. Louis to the old Bolling Field in Southeast Washington.
