Marching to Mars is the tenth studio album by American rock vocalist Sammy Hagar, and his first post-Van Halen solo album. It is his tenth solo studio album. It features various musicians on different songs. It was released in May 20, 1997 by MCA Records, which had by that point acquired his former label, Geffen Records. Little White Lie" was a major mainstream rock hit, topping the mainstream rock tracks chart for five weeks.

Recorded at The Plant Recording Studios, Sausalito, CA and Studio X, CA.

Subtlety still remains a weak point with Hagar, but he's rarely sounded quite as convincing as he does here, tearing through a set of surprisingly well-written songs with such guest artists as Huey Lewis, Slash, Mickey Hart, and Bootsy Collins.

Sammy Hagar Format: Audio Cassette. Sammy was out to prove that he didn't need VH to put out good music, and he certainly did! The album has several highlights. Who has the Right?" is an anti-death penalty song.

Marching To Mars Album. Both Sides Now. Kama. Leaving The Warmth Of The Womb. Salvation On Sand Hill.

Sammy Hagar released his first post-Van Halen album, Marching to Mars, in May 1997. Given the acrimonious nature of his departure from the group, it's understandable that this surprisingly diverse album fires more than a few shots towards his old pals. Depending on who you listen to, Hagar either quit or was fired from Van Halen in 1996, following arguments about soundtrack songs, best-of albums and the band's clandestine recording sessions with ex-singer David Lee Roth. Hagar enlisted several of his famous friends to help him exorcise his demons, with a full-out Montrose reunion taking place on "Leaving the Warmth of the Womb" and Slash adding guitar to the album's not-so-subtly titled lead single "Little White Li. The track is a fine example of the album's sophistication and sense of dynamics.
