The series of the harpsichord concertos of . Bach goes on: For the concertos for two harpsichords Aapo Häkkinen plays together with no less than Pierre Hantaï, his former teacher. This third volume combines the complete concertos for two harpsichords with a rarely played but highly interesting work by Wilhelm Friedmann Bach. The latter is the concerto for two harpsichords (without orchestra) in F Major. Two reconstructions of harpsichords from the close circle of Bach are played. As the two first volumes of this series have been much appreciated we think this musical encounter is especially.
The harpsichord concertos, BWV 1052–1065, are concertos for harpsichord, strings and continuo by Johann Sebastian Bach. There are seven complete concertos for a single harpsichord (BWV 1052–1058), three concertos for two harpsichords (BWV 1060–1062), two concertos for three harpsichords (BWV 1063 and 1064), and one concerto for four harpsichords (BWV 1065).

The album features Trevor Pinnock as harpsichordist and conductor of The English Concert, an ensemble he founded over 30 years ago. They perform all seven of Bach’s concertos for single harpsichord with incomparable artistry. Harpsichordists Kenneth Gilbert, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, and Nicholas Kraemer join Pinnock on five additional concertos for multiple harpsichords that round out the album. In all these latter performances, the music is exquisite .
