2003's Forget Yourself played as an encyclopedia of the Church's history rolled into one disc, and it turns out it was an indication of the way things were going, as the band's new album, Uninvited, Like the Clouds, is a continuation of this aesthetic, though turned slightly more mellow. So the jangly guitar pop of immediately familiar tunes like "Block" or "Unified Field" are joined (and in fact overshadowed) by electronic-enhanced atmosphere

The Uninvited Lyrics. What was sacred lost forevermore What your hatred washed up to the shore Underneath I still can feel the pain What you took can never be replaced. Stone faced liar Your hate vile. For the blood you waste this will fall on you Now your fate has been decided For the life you take, this is overdue You are now the uninvited. Sirens screaming blood against the wall No more saving innocence at all. No shame spineless Cold rage of violence.
Album title: Uninvited Like The Clouds. Australian band The Church formed in 1980 and failed to attract much mainstream attention for the bulk of the first decade they existed. The dynamic of the band centred on the intelligent song writing of Steve Kilbey and the competitive atmosphere generated by his self-styled dominance. Having weathered continuous in-fighting and paltry commercial success for the sake of expressive freedom they have released 'Uninvited Like The Clouds' because, it seems, no one could come up with a better idea.
