Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer and actor. Hancock started his career with Donald Byrd. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. In the 1970s, Hancock experimented with jazz fusion, funk, and electro styles.

Join us to celebrate Herbie Hancock’s 1978 jazz-fusion, soul-inspired, vocoder-heavy, funk triumph ‘Sunlight’ with rising London pianist Renato Paris and Yohan Kebede of Kokoroko. Released in June 1978 and instantly put the famed jazz keyboardist into the pop and soul sphere. Chops aside, this is an album with a heavy impact on the crossover appeal of jazz and one of it’s foremost proponents in the mainstream sphere
