A few months ago I happened to hear an extended interview with Jeanne Lamon, long-time Music Director of Tafelmusik, a small Baroque orchestra with which I was unfamiliar - perhaps because they are based up in Toronto, rather than Europe, and didn't have a major label promoting their work. During the interview they played one movement of the Beethoven 7th, and I really liked it; so I decided to check out their complete set of the Beethoven symphonies.

The Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (also known simply as Tafelmusik) is a Canadian Baroque orchestra specializing in early music and based in Toronto. They often perform with choir and play period instruments. The orchestra was founded in 1979 by oboist Kenneth Solway and bassoonist Susan Graves. Violinist Jeanne Lamon served as Music Director from 1981 to 2014.
