Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 is a tone poem by Richard Strauss, composed in 1896 and inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophical novel of the same name. The composer conducted its first performance on 27 November 1896 in Frankfurt. A typical performance lasts half an hour. The initial fanfare – titled "Sunrise" in the composer's program notes – became well-known after its use in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)" is an instrumental by Brazilian musician Eumir Deodato, from his 1973 album Prelude. It is a heavily jazz-funk styled rendition of the introduction from the Richard Strauss composition Also sprach Zarathustra. Released as the album's first single in early 1973, his rendition peaked at on the . Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on 31 March 1973 (behind Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly") and on the UK Singles Chart

Zubin Mehta's amazing 1968 recording for Decca of Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra has been reissued for this sonic spectacular from Lim, and the results of the label's K2 HD mastering are simply astonishing. Bearing in mind that this was an exceptional analog recording in the first place, and that the conversion process has preserved the performance's radiant ambience and resonance, this recording sounds just as clear and deep as any Super Audio CD or audio DVD would, but with the difference that the sound is just as warm as any LP.

Firstly "Also Sprach Zarathustra" which is the longest work on these albums. You are no doubt familiar with the opening section of this as the main theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey which depicts a Sunrise. If you are expecting the rest of the work to continue in a similar triumphant vein for 40 minutes then you may initially be disappointed, since the work covers a wide range of different moods
