Matthias Eisenberg, Reger, Mendelssohn, Liszt ‎– Die Schukeorgel Im Neuen Gewandhaus Zu Leipzig Matthias Eisenberg Spielt Werke Von Reger, Mendelssohn Und Liszt. Label: ETERNA ‎– 8 27 814.

Performers: Matthias Eisenberg - Schuke-Orgel der Hauptkirche Beatae Mariae Virginis zu Wolfenbüttel. Matthias Eisenberg (born 15 January 1956) is a German concert organist and harpsichordist, and a cantor. The award-winning player is known for performing concerts with clarinetist Giora Feidman. He has performed and conducted master classes internationally. He recorded, including the complete organ works by J. S. Bach and improvisations, and has conducted Bach cantatas from the harpsichord in collaboration with the Thomanerchor.

Whilst Mendelssohn admired Liszt's virtuosity at the keyboard, he found his music jejune. Berlioz said of Mendelssohn that he had "perhaps studied the music of the dead too closely. The musicologist Greg Vitercik considers that, while "Mendelssohn's music only rarely aspires to provoke", the stylistic innovations evident from his earliest works solve some of the contradictions between classical forms and the sentiments of Romanticism. Texts and translations of vocal music by Mendelssohn at The LiederNet Archive.

Performer: Matthias Eisenberg. Orchestra: Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Conductor: Kurt Masur. Composer: Franz Liszt. This double CD from EMI gives us good value - fine performances by Kurt Masur and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra of the Dante Symphony by Franz Liszt together with five of his symphonic poems, numbers 1, 7, 11, 12 and 13. Also featured in the symphony are Volker Arndt (treble), Matthias Eisenberg (organ) and the Choir of St. Thomas' Church in Leibzig, where . Bach was cantor for so many years in the 18th century. The symphony is a companion piece to the Faust Symphony completed two years earlier, so the tonal quality of the two works is similar.

The museum is full of authentic stuff from Mendelssohn house, including instruments he played on and his work room. The highlight of the museum is the room where you can conduct an orchestra. A must I'd you visit Leipzig!!
