All in due time, the shadows will give way to light. How much more can I give of myself, as these walls close in on me? As I slip down into this despair (into this despair), There is nothing to attain. What victory (what victory) When my soul is weak, (is weak) where does my help come from? All in due time, see the world through different eyes.
Killswitch Engage entered the studio in October 2008 to start recording their next album with Dutkiewicz and Brendan O'Brien co-producing the album. In mid-February, bassist Mike D'Antonio confirmed in an interview with Metal Hammer that "drums were finished", and that he had "finished up the last few bass fixes".
The track 'In Due Time' proves that Killswitch Engage can still write those grinding metalcore riffs while a powerful voice sings its way through an anthemic chorus. And welcome back to Jesse Leach.
Forming Killswitch Engage in Westfield, Massachusetts, the band's four founding members already had strong fan followings when they got started. Bassist Mike D'Antonio was formerly the leader and principal songwriter of Overcast, often considered a progenitor of the metalcore genre. When Overcast split in 1998, D'Antonio sought for a year to find the right combination of players to fuse hardcore and metal with melody. The set debuted well inside the Top Ten on various album charts. The track "In Due Time" was nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. After several tours in support, Killswitch took some well-deserved time off. In early 2015, the band teased a 40-second snippet of "Loyalty"; the track ended up on Catch the Throne: The Mixtape, Vol. 2, for the Game of Thrones television series. They also began informally demoing new tracks.
