Piano Interpretations is the début album by jazz pianist Wynton Kelly released on the Blue Note label featuring performances by Kelly with Oscar Pettiford/Franklin Skeete, and Lee Abrams recorded in 1951. The CD reissue features 11 additional tracks.

Considering that Velázquez may have been fifteen years old when she wrote the song, this sentence reflects inexperience and innocence. Indeed, a video from "TV Mexicana"[ shows Consuelo Velázquez playing the piano while the singer sings perderte después. Many interpretations use perderte otra vez ("lose you once again") instead of the original perderte después ("lose you afterwards"). The line "Besame mucho, que tengo miedo a perderte después" means "Kiss me a lot, as I am afraid of losing you afterwards.

Consuelo Velázquez (1916?–January 22, 2005), was a Mexican songwriter. According to her obituary she was 88 years old. Most music resources, however, list her birth date as August 29, 1924 in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco State, Mexico. Velázquez was the songwriter and lyricist of many Latin standard songs, such as Amar y vivir, Verdad amarga, Franqueza, Que seas feliz, Cachito, Enamorada and, most notably, of the enduring 1940s-era hit Bésame mucho.
