Schwarzkopf was an accomplished Straussian in the 1950's (her Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier is a great assumption of the role), and she sounds just fine in these "bleeding chunks" of Strauss. Interestingly, another great German soprano, Lisa della Casa, recorded a similar program (minus the Capriccio excerpt) in 1953
