Spinnin' Webs & Rappin' Rhymes 2004. I Wonder F Peter Gunz. Spyder D. & Peter Gunz 2014. Duane Hughes, aka Spyder-D, was among the first rap artists to debut in 1980. That's the year the Queens native released a pair of singles, including the pronoun-laced, Slave-adelic workout "Big Apple Rappin' (National Rappin' Anthem). That 12" was recorded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, while Hughes was attending Eastern Michigan University in neighboring Ypsilanti, and released on his and Detroiter Tito Lewis' Newtroit label.

Spyder D's "Big Apple Rappin,'" released on Newtroit Records, epitomized the style of this new generation, featuring a simple yet instantly memorable and danceable groove paired with Spyder's slick raps dedicated to his hometown and delivered with distinctly New York attitude. Reissued in a fully licensed fresh pressing, this iconic 12" captures the Hip Hop movement in its nascent days: fun, fresh and ready to party Duane Hughes.

Growing up with tracks like 'How Ya Like Me Now', Spyder-D was an early inspiration. Can't honestly say I discovered this until some 20 odd years later, but f**k me if this isn't the stone cold heaviest Disco Rap champion out there.... From the NY shouts to the instrumentation, the quality is absurdly high, it gets no better than this. The battle rages on as to which was the first pressing, although I suspect the list order on the page is correct. Either way, you need both- the 1st for the long and shorter version (the shorter version having slightly different lyric's) & the second for the instrumental version, so strong it works without the rap as a sh*t hot Disco break. The Big Apple at its best.

Love that he mentioned Larry Levan in this track as a New York staple. Classic Disco Rap
