Hanging Out Imagination Late Night Summer. Chick Corea Elektric Band, Chick Corea.
Corea's Elektric Band is in fine form. With guests, they interpret each scene with characteristic authority. Samba, mambo, tango, calypso, and other hip rhythms carry them on a contemporary adventure of funk and groove. Both front line artists capture the distinct impression that comes with deep space adventure. Bass and drums surround each scene with mesmerizing shades that never fade. The session remains in high gear, for the most part, with the Elektric Band's batteries on full charge. Corea provides lovely "Port Views," numbered 1 through 7, which reflect the dreamy quality associated with space travel.
Chick Corea Elektric Band, led by renowned pianist Chick Corea, is one of the most critically acclaimed jazz fusion bands of the past two decades. Following the demise of Return to Forever, Corea established the musical ensemble in 1986. The Elektric Band is greatly different in style in comparison with Return to Forever in that it signified a move away from rock-oriented fusion into a more Post-bop style.
Bass – John Patitucci. Engineer – Bob Cetti. Guitar – Frank Gambale. Chick Corea Elektric Band.
It is the eponymous debut album of the Chick Corea Elektric Band, which at that time also featured drummer Dave Weckl, bass player John Patitucci and guitarists Scott Henderson and Carlos Rios. This album can be described as "jazz-rock", though it is much closer to traditional jazz than the jazz-rock albums of the 1970s. The keyboard sounds on the album are typical for the mid-1980s. All songs by Chick Corea except where noted otherwise. Side Walk" (Chick Corea/Dave Weckl/John Patitucci) – 3:48. Cool Weasel Boogie" – 6:43.
I think Corea tried to catch the move of the time with his Elektric Band's debut album. And music is competent and professional. The only problem is there is no place for soul or game ( improvisation) in it.
The Chick Corea Elektric Band. Restless music pacesetter and multi-Grammy® Award-winner, Chick Corea now returns with his genre-bending, all-star Elektric Band, featuring Frank Gambale, Eric Marienthal, John Patitucci, Dave Weckl and guest appearances by Steve Wilson, Pernell Saturnino and Gayle Moran Corea. Reuniting his ground-breaking Elektric Band just in time to celebrate the group’s 20th anniversary, Corea is once again heard blazing trails through a new frontier of electrifying, creative music.
