Tara is the fourth album by black metal band Absu. It was released on May 23, 2001, by Osmose Productions. It contains the In the Eyes of Ioldánach EP as bonus tracks.
ABSU started in 1989 in Plano, Texas. Lyrical themes vary from myths and legends, weaponry, sorcery, alchemy, cosmology and beyond.

Absu's 2001 effort, Tara, may have the common decency to let you recuperate between every few songs with goofy bagpipe bridges, but the black thrashing metal madness of the rest of the record is so relentless that the breaks become moot point. I am very new to Absu, to be quite honest. I had heard the previous album, The Third Storm of Cythraul, and found it to be nothing special.

Absu is an American extreme metal band from Dallas, Texas. Their demos and first album leaned towards death metal, but evolved more towards a black metal and thrash metal style which includes elements of Celtic and folk music (and later, elements of jazz fusion, progressive rock and psychedelic music) which the band calls "Mythological Occult Metal".
Tara is their last (unless they have a reunion) album and because of this, it has the most tolerable production. I understand that in old school black metal it was not fashionable to have good production, but many of Absu's earlier releases have absolutely no low-end to them and it makes it a difficult listen.
