Room 25 is the debut studio album by American hip hop recording artist Noname. Recorded in about a month's time, the album chronicles the two years since the release of Noname's debut mixtape Telefone, most notably her move from Chicago to Los Angeles and an intense, short-lived romantic relationship. Room 25 was executive produced by Phoelix, who previously worked as a producer on Telefone. It features guest appearances by Ravyn Lenae, Smino, Saba, Phoelix, amongst others.

The 11-track album was executive produced by fellow Chicago native Phoelix and sees Noname return as a more mature and experienced artist

On Room 25, she enlists fellow Chicagoan and frequent collaborator Phoelix, whose resonant live production bathes Noname's lyrics in a haze of cosmic jazz and smooth neo-soul. When she raps Somebody hit D'Angelo/I think I need him for this one on the vulnerable Don't Forget About Me, it solidifies the connection between generations of organic, mindful, black music: Room 25 is the stylistic lovechild of Common’s Like Water for Chocolate and Erykah Badu’s Mama's Gun-genre-marrying albums as transformative for listeners as they. were the artists that created them. And Room 25 reconciles expectation with result, the choice of others versus self. It's the kind of album you make when a new place and a fragile heart threatens to unravel you and when you inevitably cobble back together the pieces that, it turns out, were never lost.

The biggest problem with Noname’s Room 25 is that the opening two tracks, adding up to barely four minutes of music, are just too damn good. The rest is merely exceptional. New Musical Express (NME).

Telefone is an album drenched in nostalgia. Noname uses her dizzying lyricism to paint the past with thick strokes. From trips to the ice cream parlor to lamenting police brutality, Telefone presents life in Chicago with the wide-eyed romanticism of a children's book.

Everybody think they know me/Don’t nobody really know me, Noname raps quietly in Window on Room 25, her official debut album after releasing a free mixtape in 2016, Telefone. If so, it’s because 26-year-old Fatimah Warner presents so many intertwined personas: family member, woke African-American woman, lover, boaster, worshiper, Chicagoan, Los Angeles transplant, rapper, singer, poet. Noname has invented herself as a nonchalant counterbalance to mass-market hip-hop.

Does anyone know if this is ever going to be released on vinyl?

It doesn't look likely. Her first project had a slim self-released run of vinyl and then a separate run from VMP club. She's an independent artist and it's hard to get those kinds of funds for physical copies, let alone vinyl.

I wonder why they wouldn't be able to make it work since it was self released?

I've asked VMP but they tell me they could not make it work. Let's hope they manage to later!

My guess is VMP has the inside line. They released the first album on vinyl.

I'm assuming this album will be available in vinyl later, but in limited quantity just like Telefone. Definitely grab it when it becomes available!
