Gino Vannelli embraced it, accepting it as the way things were now done. Consequently, Black Cars is definitively of the moment - it's hard to imagine a record that sounds more 1985 than this. There are hints of mild dance rhythms and little concessions to new wave that pop up now and again. This is all essentially window dressing, though, since the core of the record is firmly in the smooth, lightly soulful, soft pop territory staked out on Brother to Brother and Nightwalker.
Under the cover of night She crawls into sight Her skin is cold china white She's a dark angel wearing dark glasses Dark shadows under long false lashes. I say. Black cars look better in the shade She smears her lipstick on right before she sleeps For all those phantom lovers in her dreams

The whole album is great. I'm glad I had the privilege to meet him in person back in 1991. Both he and his brother are very mellow and educated people. This fantastic chameleon of a musician and songwriter deserved more than just Canada's best accolades. Always in good taste, and always a smattering of references. Never a better album to listen to on the road than Black Cars. Thank you kindly for posting. Very good style, voice and musical arrangements!! 8 years назад.
If you think Black Cars (the single and the album) is great--you're right. But Gino wrote so much beautiful music, it's difficult to believe he's virtually anonymous now. If this world doesn't end soon, Gino Vannelli will be regarded by history as one of the best /vocalists of the modern era. His music smashes the heart; it's often difficult to listen to Living Inside Myself, Hurts to Be in Love and others without being reduced to tears (regardless of how tough you are).
