In Sudden Walks' - Aisles (8/10). The second album by these Chilean proggers is also my second experience with them. In their debut 'The Yearning', I had a great deal of potential from Aisles, but it rarely ever felt like it was realized, despite that album being quite a beautiful listen. In Sudden Walks (2009) has pretty much a similar tracklist to the one on their first album. 3 songs that are between 9 and 10 minutes long, 2 songs that are between 4 and 5 minutes long and one longer track, in this case a 15-minute-long track. Aisles have learned a lot in the 4 years they took to record In Sudden Walks (2009).

In Sudden Walks was self-produced and released in January, 2009. Once again, the album was well received by fans and critics. Cesar Inca of Prog Archives said In Sudden Walks may have been one of the 5 most accomplished neo-prog albums of 2009. It is a lovely collection of inventive compositions and bold arrangements, while David Dashifen Kees of USA Progressive Music stated From moment one, the album reveals a unique composition of sounds which display an understanding of music and a depth of theme and creativity that many other bands lack.
Aisles continue their sonic exploration with In Sudden Walks, an album that ranges from catchy rock hooks and emotive ballads to deep, intricate instrumental passages. The album was nominated for Best Foreign Records in the Italian Prog Awards in 2009. Genre: Rock: Progressive Rock. It is interesting to look back and reflect on what the creation of In Sudden walks meant. The Yearning had been for us a genuine and honest expression of ourselves; thus we faced the challenge of remaining true to our essence whilst at the same time going further seeking new and original grounds. We spent a long time working on what would become our second album.
In Sudden Walks (2009) starts with ‘Mariachi’ which is a fabulous idea. The track is a theatrical piece where the band composed a very interesting piece of music with no vocals. Instead of vocals we have two actors staging a scene in a ‘hot’ text. Aisles was able to achieve a great and solid album with In Sudden Walks (2009). With much more unity than their first record. Listening to In Sudden Walks (2009) makes me really want to listen their new album that should be released in the next months. By the way, what an intriguing cover, still trying to get it. The band was included in our Podcast and you can listen the track 'Revolution Of Light' HERE.
