Sweet Soul Music" is a soul song, first released by Arthur Conley in 1967. Written by Conley and Otis Redding, it is based on the Sam Cooke song "Yeah Man" from his posthumous album Shake; the opening riff is a quote from Elmer Bernstein's score for the 1960 movie The Magnificent Seven. In the US, "Sweet Soul Music" reached the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (behind "The Happening" by The Supremes), and number two on the Billboard R&B chart.

I don't regret it but I'm glad that we're through So don't you tell me that you just don't get it 'Cause I know you do. I know when you're around 'cause I know the sound I know the sound, of your heart Well I know when you're around 'cause I know the sound I know the sound, of your heart Well I know when you're around 'cause I know the sound I know the sound, of your heart Well I know when you're. around 'cause I know the sound I know the sound, of your heart. There hasn’t been a vehicle yet for us to do that. This album is perfect because it’s juxtaposed with everything the album is. The Sound is the third single released from The 1975’s second studio effort, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. The music video was directed by Tim Mattia, and it premiered on the day of the album’s release.
