Beneath This Gruff Exterior was singer-songwriter John Hiatt's seventeenth album, released on May 6, 2003. All tracks written by John Hiatt. Uncommon Connection" – 4:11. How Bad's The Coffee" – 3:56. The Nagging Dark" – 3:15.

In short, this is a John Hiatt rock & roll album, which means his more serious songs are put on hold and stuff like "How Bad's the Coffee" and "Almost Fed Up With the Blues" find their way onto disc. But as has long been the case, Hiatt's lighter stuff still packs more emotional heft than most songwriters you could mention (especially on "Missing Pieces" and "The Most Unoriginal Sin"), and if his voice sounds as if it's starting to fray a tiny bit, he can still belt it out pretty convincingly for a guy who's been making.

This album has an average beat per minute of 127 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 84/173 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. Tracklist Beneath This Gruff Exterior. Usanner
The American John Hiatt is widely respected as one of the best songwriters of his generation. His songs were recorded by such greats as Eric Clapton & B.B. King, Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt and the Everly Brothers. Also as a solo artist is Hiatt in the past twenty years quite successful. To his strongest albums include Riding With The King (1983), Bring The Family (1987), Slow Turning (1988) and Crossing Muddy Waters (2000). Unfortunately, these masterpieces often alternated with disappointing albums, such as The Tiki Bar Is Open from 2001. Fortunately for the many loyal fans is the successor Beneath This Gruff Exterior a strong revenge. Just like Bring The Family was also this cd in a very short period of time (eight days!) live in the studio. The main difference with the previous albums lies in the fact that Hiatts songs this time really on the body of his backing band The Goners are written. So we hear some solid, good uncomplicated (blues-) guitarist Sonny Landreth pistils, where slide-all space gets to Excel. Just listen to the moving Missing Pieces, the humorous How bad's The Coffee or the rub off My Baby Blue, with which Hiatt even put up another potential hit. Conclusion: with Beneath This Gruff Exterior, the phenomenon has John Hiatt for the umpteenth time in his career made a classic. Beauty plate!
