Pre-gap length : 00:02:00.

At the time, American organist Daniel Chorzempa was a young phenomenon of the instrument. He was noted for sheer virtuosity in Romantic works, but here he effectively shifted gears into the not particularly difficult but bright and sunny realm of Mozart's church sonatas or epistle sonatas, single-movement works intended for incorporation into the celebration of the mass at Salzburg Cathderal. It's interesting to hear all the sonatas together, for one can become acquainted with the ways in which Mozart stretched the boundaries of even this rather obscure genre over the period from which these works originated: between 1771, when he was in his mid-teens, and 1780, when he was a mature composer.

Deepest devotions to Daniel Chorzempa; many thanks to the German Bach Soloists and Helmut Winschermann. Also my thanks to the label: Phillips Complete Mozart Collection always has the best artists and most excellent recording quality, and I highly recommend the entire series to everyone. 11 people found this helpful.
