Megadeth's most commercially successful album, Countdown to Extinction (1992), peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was the band's first record to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The following year Megadeth released Hidden Treasures, an EP that featured previously released non-album tracks, including soundtrack and compilation songs. Cryptic Writings (1997) peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200, and became the group's sixth consecutive studio album to be certified platinum in the US. The release scored the band's highest-charting single to date, "Trust", which peaked at number 5 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Later that year, Menza left the band and was replaced by drummer Jimmy DeGrasso.

Megadeth: Hidden Treasures. This CD is a collection of tracks that were never on any of their albums but still all good songs. Here's a breakdown: Track 1 - No More Mr. Nice Guy (Alice Cooper cover), First appearance - Shocker soundtrack This song is a good opening track. But I only got youthanasia without a bonus disc and missed hidden treasures so this is perfect. This is a very amazing album. A few people think that it is just a cover album.

This album is overrated big time. It wasn't a thrash metal album and Megadeth has much better albums then this. Its Very very underrated album. I think this album one of the best Megadeth albums like rust in peace, youthanasia, countdown to extinction, so far so good, killing is my business, system has failed, peace sells, endgame and other their albums) More commercial than others, but this album is worthy of respect. Melodic riffs and solos are great. Advice to novice fans of this thrash metal band to listen songs like she-wolf, masterind, secret place, vortex, trust, almost honest.

Culled from various soundtracks and tribute albums, and featuring a new cover of the Sex Pistols' "Problems," Hidden Treasures may have a number of rare tracks, but it doesn't have many first-rate songs, with only "99 Ways to Die" making much of an impression.

Dave Mustaine disbanded Megadeth in 2002 due to a nerve injury he had suffered on his left arm. Following a year of physical therapy Mustaine began work on what was to be his first solo album, however contractual obligations forced The System Has Failed to be released under the Megadeth name, following which, Mustaine decided to reform the band. The band reformed in 2004. By the time the band released Megadeth - The System Has Failed. fm, Twitter, Bookogs, Posterogs, setlist.
