Dienstag, 22. März 2016. Odetta - Sings Ballads And Blues (1956). One of the strongest voices in the folk revival and the civil rights movement, Odetta was born on New Year's Eve 1930 in Birmingham, AL. Odetta's debut album was a strong, confident effort featuring just her and her guitar on 16 tracks, most of which were traditional in origin. In its day, it was quite an influential recording; Bob Dylan, in fact, once cited this record in particular as the one that made him decide to trade in his electric guitar and amplifier for an acoustic guitar.

and they live happily ever after.

Beautiful Ballads by Patti LaBelle. com, this product will be manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. com's standard return policy will apply. This CD is Patti Labelle at her best because she seems to take every ballad that she sings and just takes it to church. She can take just about any song (good or bad) and make it a smash (especially if it's a ballad). She's one of those artists who transcends generations. She's a pure singer with no need for voice enhancements or a bunch of instruments to mask her defects.

During his violence-torn life, Leadbelly served four prison terms for assault. At one of his performances in prison, he was discovered by John Lomax, a Harvard-trained musicologist. As Walter Boyd, Leadbelly became known for the company he kept with women and for frequent fights. While traveling with friends and a relative named Will Stafford, Leadbelly got into a fight in which Stafford was fatally shot. After a fight in which he claimed that six men tried to steal whiskey from his lunch pail, Leadbelly was convicted of assault with intent to commit murder. Court records, however, show that he was convicted of assaulting a white Salvation Army officer with a knife at a Salvation Army concert after the officer told Leadbelly to stop dancing to the music.

Beautiful Ballads & Love Songs. Yet, since Columbia had Holiday at her early acme before booze and bad men took tolls, one revels in the endless manna each slice serves.
