Kendrick confirmed that the album was intended to be played backwards because It plays as a full story and even a better rhythm. You know, ‘DNA,’ and exposing who I really am, he continued. You listen from the back end, and it’s almost the duality and the contrast of the intricate Kendrick Lamar.

Narrative plays a big role in Damn, but all the stories are interrupted. The song titles, uppercase and punctuated, tease a kind of closure that the songs themselves withhold. To Pimp a Butterfly may be Kendrick’s unequivocal love letter to black folks stateside, but Damn best sounds the dizzying array of multi-level micro-adjustments that mar and animate black life, period. In a post-fact world of sorts, Kendrick enacts black life as the ultimate counterfactual, an irreconcilable knot of histories, doctrines, spirits, and sounds.

By Kendrick Lamar, SZA. 2018, 14 songs. Pray For Me (with Kendrick Lamar) - The Weeknd, 3:310:30. More by Kendrick Lamar. Black Panther The Album Music From And Inspired By. Damn.

Buster Kendrick is not your everyday guitarist. He's a blend of the top pickers in the nation today, and yet that blend is accomplished so smoothly that it provides him with his own style. Buster's favorite picker is Sugarfoot Garland (who lives only a few miles from Buster's Shelby, N.C. home) but his style is not pure Garland. He has also acquired a touch of Chet, Merle and the others and the sum total is good picking. Not only is Buster a fine guitarist, he is also my friend. I guess that is what I'm proudest of. - Jim Owen

I will recommend this album of Buster Kendrick, a fine guitarist and a personal friend of mine. - Hank "Sugarfoot" Garland
