The Symphony No. 1 in C minor, B. 9, subtitled The Bells of Zlonice (Czech: Zlonické zvony), was composed by Antonín Dvořák during February and March 1865. The work is written in the early Romantic style, and was inspired by the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Felix Mendelssohn. It was the only one of his symphonies that Dvořák never heard performed or had a chance to revise.

Everything belongs to their respective owners. Jan Hrubeš Dvorak is a true great, recently acquired his symphonies by Neumann, excellent stuff :). Jan Hrubeš. Alexander Well, Dvořák was born in the Czech Republic, thats in Europe. cream366 Nonsens, the first part of the 1st symphony is a masterpiece, much better als most of all his other symphonies!! Delicious, the constant movement of the first part takes you with, an endless movement, a great expeirience!! Dieu Linh La.

With Dvorak you get the brass and winds early and often. Now, could a Beethoven have even written a Symphony from the New World that had its resolution to the major key play out in the brass section? Chris Breemer. Personally I think all of them are masterpieces, though some (maybe 2 and 3 ?) are arguably a little long for their content. Number one, though long, is marvelous
