With four-on-the-floor drums and howling fiddle, he throws a rollicking good time on the roadhouse track Honky Tonk Mood, and invites his haters to take a seat on the intrepid backroads jam Doubt Me Now. He also stacks the album with sentimental fare, like sharing secrets to a long, happy life on the title track. Ain't Nothin' to Get Excited About is an album of rock and roll songs recorded in 1970 by the members of Procol Harum under the name Liquorice John Death. It was not released until 1997. Strictly speaking, this is not a Procol Harum album; it was recorded shortly after the band had finished working on their 1970 album Home. During these recording sessions, producer Chris Thomas asked the band to play some old favourites while he set up the equipment for recording.

There ain't nothin' I can do nor nothin' I can say, that folks don't criticize me But I'm gonna do just as I want to anyway, I don't care if they all despise me. The remaining verses are eight bars in length, with the first four describing a situation, such as "If I go to church on Sunday, then cabaret on Monday", and the last four concluding with the refrain "Tain't nobody's biz-ness if I do". The song's eight-bar chord scheme was a model for subsequent "bluesy" Tin Pan Alley songs I swear I won't call no copper, if I'm beat up by my papa Tain't nobody's business if I do. In 1928, a country blues rendition was recorded by Memphis, Tennessee, singer-guitarist Frank Stokes. His finger-style acoustic guitar version uses a simple I-IV-V chord progression and different lyrics, including the refrain "It ain't nobody's business but mine".
