The son of Luc and Rita (née Lagrou) Lotigiers, Lotti was born Helmut Barthold Johannes Alma Lotigiers in Ghent, Belgium, and began his singing career with a visual and singing style in an obvious imitation of Elvis Presley, and was described as "De Nieuwe Elvis" (in Dutch) or "The New Elvis". His first two albums were Vlaamse Nachten ("Flemish Nights", 1990) and Alles Wat Ik Voel ("All That I Feel", 1992)

I have other Helmut Lotti CD's and have been looking for 'My Tribute to the King' for a long time. For those American fans of Mr. Lotti who know him only through his series of classical concerts on PBS, this album may come as a surprise. It is a musical tribute to the great American singer and innovator Elvis Presley, a true giant in entertainment history. I suppose those fans of the "classical Lotti" really should not be surprised. Lotti has often expressed his admiration for and love of this American icon, even in his classical concerts. I think the most impressive thing about this CD is the respect given to each song.
