Colonel Abrams is the self-titled debut studio album by American musician, Colonel Abrams, released in 1985 through MCA Records. The album peaked at No. 13 on the R&B albums chart. It also reached No. 75 on the Billboard 200. The album features the singles "Trapped", which peaked at No. 20 on the Hot Soul Singles chart and No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Disco chart, and "I'm Not Gonna Let", which reached No. 7 on the Hot Soul Singles chart and No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Disco chart
Colonel Abrams straddled the category of love man and disco dancer on his debut album (with a touch of the preacher thrown in), and he was rewarded with four R&B chart hits: "Trapped" (number 20), "The Truth" (number 78), "I'm Not Gonna Let" (number seven), and "Over and Over" (number 68). All found the beat-heavy Abrams confidently emoting in a manly style borrowed from the young Teddy Pendergrass.
Should I listen what you say Or listen what your folks say? It's a tough decision to make I don't really wanna lose you But I don't want your folks to Turn me over to the hands of the law. I guess they think that I'm not good enough for you I can tell the way they act and their attitudes As the tears roll from my eyes I feel the hurt inside As I reach out to you saying I'm so confused
