Ace was the first solo album by Grateful Dead rhythm guitarist Bob Weir, released in 1972. Its origins come from an offer by the Dead's Warner Bros. Records label to have band members cut their own solo records, and it came out the same year as Jerry Garcia's Garcia and Mickey Hart's Rolling Thunder. However, in the case of Ace, Weir's backing band was the Dead itself (minus Ron "Pigpen" McKernan), and all songs except "Walk in the Sunshine" became concert staples of the Dead.

Sun King" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1969 album Abbey Road. Like other tracks on the album (notably "Because") the song features lush multi-tracked vocal harmonies, provided by Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison.

Gillian Weir was born in Martinborough, New Zealand in 1941. When she was 19, she was a co-winner of the Auckland Star Piano Competition, playing Mozart. A year later she won a scholarship of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in London. There, she studied with the concert pianist Cyril Smith and the renowned organist Ralph Downes, and in her second year (1964) won the prestigious St. Albans International Organ Competition.

Sun King was the first of John Lennon’s three-song contribution to the famous side-two medley that concludes the Beatles' final studio recording, the brilliant farewell album Abbey Road. Sun King was actually recorded as one take along with Mean Mr. Mustard as part of the medley concept. Although Lennon has downplayed his involvement in the idea, saying, They are only finished bits of things I wrote in India. We always have tons of bits and pieces lying around. It was a good way to get rid of bits of songs.
