The Wedding Present are a British indie rock group originally formed in 1985 in Leeds, England, from the ashes of the Lost Pandas. The band's music has evolved from fast-paced indie rock in the vein of their most obvious influences The Fall, Buzzcocks and Gang of Four to more varied forms. Throughout their career, they have been led by vocalist and guitarist David Gedge, the band's only constant member.

BIZARRO was the second Wedding Present album, originally released in 1989. The band's first album on a major label, BIZARRO saw The Wedding Present toughening up rather than selling out. Toying with extremes of tempo and mood, the result was a vibrant hybrid of astringency and the band's quintessential pop euphoria. I bought this album months ago on cassette in amoeba records on a whim one weekday afternoon and I was blown away. the trouble with a lot of recordings from the eighties is that otherwise fantastic albums can be bogged down with cheesy, dated production quality. however, this album (production included) sounds just as fresh and vibrant today as it did when it.
This album has an average beat per minute of 116 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 90/143 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. I recall seeing The Wedding Present here in Tokyo – with Gedge standing beside his young new drummer, coaxing a truly powerful performance from him, challenging him to keep pace with his own high-speed guitar licks
