For all tid (English: For All Time) is the debut studio album by Norwegian black metal band Dimmu Borgir. It was remastered and re-released in 1997 with their new label Nuclear Blast with the front cover art in full color and the entire Inn i evighetens mørke EP added. It is the band's only studio album on which Shagrath is on drums, Tjodalv on guitar and Silenoz on vocals. The artwork displayed on the front cover of the album is inspired by Gustave Doré's illustration of Camelot from Idylls of the King.

Nevertheless, Dimmu Borgir offer an authentic album and there is no doubting the sincerity and integrity of the band members, at least at this early stage of their career. The songwriter have a fine instinct for effective melodies and this feature is an advantage of the album. In their best moments, the songs create an aura which matches the cover artwork. Dimmu Borgir was simply not a cohesive-enough band at the point of For all tid's release, barely managing to pull it together and in the end delivering a laughable excuse at antediluvian symphonic black metal. While I can hardly call Stormblåst a success either, it at the very least showcases a crunchy riff set alongside Aarstad's twinkling piano lines.
Laying down the blueprint for their own career as well as the careers of countless imitators, For All Tid is one of the landmarks of the Scandinavian black metal scene. Although several other artists had already planted the seeds for the neo-opera approach to the genre, this was one of the few recordings that displayed the potential the genre had to grow.
