The Buddyrevelles's profile including the latest music, albums, songs, music videos and more updates.
The Buddyrevelles are an American indie rock band that is based in Chicago, Illinois. Band members include Aaron Grant on guitars and lead vocals, Scott Hoch on bass and background vocals, and Dan Reinholdt on drums. The Buddyrevelles formed in 1997 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where they recorded their first album, September, November, which was released by Motorcoat Records.
The Buddyrevelles are well rested. One of these years, they will release another album.
Don't Quit is certainly a fitting title for album number three from the Buddyrevelles - it arrives a full seven years after their sophomore effort, 2000's American Matador, and would have been a fitting mantra for the trio as they bided their time, waiting for the fates to align in their favor again. And it's a good thing the Buddyrevelles didn't give up: Don't Quit hardly sounds like the work of a band that's been on hold, boasting ten sharp, intelligently crafted songs that strike a balance between indie rock tension and pure pop release.
The Buddyrevelles’ album Don’t Quit starts the listener out with some pretty hip beats that could make any hipster’s toe tap along. But once singer and guitarist Aaron Grant gets going on the lyrics, all interest fades. The undertone of a deep monotone voice talking along with the majority of the songs adds a weird, almost creepy element to these unimpressive pop ballads. This chilled out and toned down version of The Buddyrevelles reveals much more talent than the upbeat premises that the band is seemingly building itself upon. Their originality and risk in style and composition do deserve a nugget of respect, albeit a minor one.
