British musician Jo Johnson’s debut solo album for Further Records, Weaving, betokens an exciting presence in the world of minimalist composition. Ancestral Footsteps opens the LP with cascades of cyclical harp-like sounds, an homage to one of Johnson’s primary inspirations: Alice Coltrane.

Dig a bit deeper and Johnson's musical heritage stretches back to the 90s London indie scene as part of various bands, whilst more recently she's been engaged as part of VLF with fellow Bleep43 member Emile Facey (aka Plant43).

Album, LP, Ltd, Red. Catalog number.

No one has said anything yet. Contributions By. Gavrylo.

Top-notch release by Joanna Johnson, the pressing is really clean, In the Shadow of the Workhouse is an incredible peace of music.

It would be hard for a dilettante like myself to do justice to this small (as in, at only about 40 minutes, you just wish there were more!) masterpiece but there's no mistaking quantity for quality here. This is an absolutely superlative modern ambient/neoclassical album.
