Notes on the selections: This collection contains mostly original discomixes produced by Lee Perry. The audio was extensively restored from original pressings, although the original sound quality was often difficult to work with! Lee Perry's techniques were highly unusual and the tunes often have a raw quality to them, especially the title track.

Notes on the selections: These six selections are all original discomixes produced by Lee Perry. The audio was extensively restored from original pressings. Lee Perry's techniques were highly unusual and the tunes often have a raw quality to them but they are in all cases pretty much exactly what you'd hear with a near mint original :-) Colin Young, See Why Audio, London, 2019. Great sounding here, as Volume 1, Lee perry fans should grab it now if they don't already have these 12" in stock. Thanks to Colin Young and Studio 16. Reply Notify me Helpful.

Notes

Notes on the selections:
This collection contains mostly original discomixes produced by Lee Perry. The audio was extensively restored from original pressings, although the original sound quality was often difficult to work with! Lee Perry's techniques were highly unusual and the tunes often have a raw quality to them, especially the title track.
The source audio for A3 is a custom edit of the original Orchid 12" pressing, ommitting some portions of the deejay section. This was done in order to keep the audio a reasonable quality and length for 1 side of an LP.
The source audio for track B1 was a standard 12" pressing on Seven Leaves records together with a lost extended section recovered from a blank label 12" of unknown origin but which contained a longer version of the same mix. This extra portion required very extensive restoration work.

I agree that track a1 sounds worse than the others. Perhaps the original sounds this way too? Or does anyone know of a better sounding version? Anyway, I recommend vol 1 and vol 2. Absolutely mindblowing music.

Oh man, thats so glorious! I am sweating of this toughness.A1 is surely the reasonn but A2 is surly the winner!

This Compilation sounds great , track A1 sounds a little less good than other tracks. On track B2 we have an uncreditted Dillinger on the version.Nice to have those tracks on one record, money saved ! Grab it Perry fans !

Thanks to Colin Young for the notes and details for this record, I have the " D.I.P Presents The Upsetter" and your work on those tracks is great.I'm gonna look for this Disco Devil and post a review about it soon.Cheers !

The answer to Klimek's post is... No it's great. Hear for yourself.

Silly Dog
so, is this another horribly sounding STUDIO 16 Lee Perry re-issue ?

Bynelad
I'm ready to purchase Vol 1 and 2....... Seriously, I'm all about the sound and the system. Is this vol just a bad print? If it's not 100 % sound I'm passing on it ? I want your honest opinion.

melody of you
thank you very much for following my other posts :-) my equipment is just perfect. it's more about the skills/the art of listening, i think. the largest, most expensive TV-screen won't help you when you are watching a low-res youtube clip on it. but first you need to define it as "a" (or "your") problem. I know also a lot of people who are very happy watching youtube clips on their ultra-hd TV sets. you know...

At Klimek: many of your comments are about poor sound quality of vinyl... .Just a question: maybe you should buy better sound equipment? Maybe you need a better turnable?
