On the 1997 Waak Waak Djungi album Crow Fire Music, these interpretations were assembled with traditional recordings and additional material from Sebastian Jörgensen and Sally Grice. Nearly two decades later, a CD copy filed away in the 3RRR FM library would prompt a three year investigation to meet the people behind the music.

For the members of Waak Waak Jungi, this exchange has taken the form of musical collaboration, resulting in stunning performances and recordings. All Gone" is from Crow Fire Music. au/zuppy (Australia). Living on Australia’s southern coast, on Port Phillip Bay, Steve’s music reflects the inner life and the natural world - especially the sea.

Waak Waak Jungi has been played on NTS shows including Fifth World w/ Ian Kim Judd, with Black Crow first played on 24 November 2015. Irish avant-pop composer Maria Somerville gifts us a special hour long show entitled "The Invisible World", inspired by the words of poet John O'Donohue, featuring music from her Irish musical predecessors, as well as The Durutti Column, Suzanne Kraft, & John Maus.

Waak Waak Jungi is not so much a band as an ongoing collaboration, a work in progress. Crow Fire Music is the result. Four of the 20 songs are presented first in the traditional way and immediately afterwards with a modern arrangement.

The record Waak Waak Ga Min Min, which translates as "Black Crow, White Cockatoo," compiles five contemporary versions of traditional songs from the Yolngu people of Northeast Arnhem Land in Australia's Northern Territory
