MCA continued the series of definitive masters of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue in 2000, releasing the self-titled box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience, consisting of four discs. The material includes alternative recordings, live performances and some rarities. Although most of the material had been released in earlier compilations, some previously unreleased material (such as live versions of "Killing Floor" and "The Wind Cries Mary") was also included.

Experience (Jimi Hendrix album). Experience is a live album by Jimi Hendrix, released in August 1971 in the United Kingdom by Ember Records. The album is an incomplete soundtrack to the unreleased film Experience documenting the Jimi Hendrix Experience's performance at the Royal Albert Hall on February 24, 1969. It peaked at number nine in the . album charts in September 1971.

All in all, The Jimi Hendrix Experience is a fine addendum to the Hendrix legacy, but not the place to start; this is a set for someone who already has the studio albums and can't get enough of his genius. The disappointment a hardcore collector might feel at having heard most of this material already should be outweighed by the beautiful, warm sound achieved by Eddie Kramer and the general high quality of the package. This massive collection, overseen by the Hendrix family and produced by Hendrix’s main producer and engineer Eddie Kramer, obviously contains plenty of highlights. The overdubs are removed from the mid-‘70s material and plenty of these often-bootlegged recordings are given the proper mix and attention

MCA continued the series of definitive masters of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue in 2000, releasing the self-titled box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience, consisting of four discs. On some tracks, especially on those from Hendrix in the West, the recordings have been slightly altered to clean up the sound, but even when modifications were made the result does not differ too much from the original masterings.
