City to City is a 1978 album and the second studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty. It was Rafferty's first solo release in six years-and first release of any kind since 1975-due to his tenure in the band Stealers Wheel and subsequent legal proceedings which prevented Rafferty from releasing any new solo recordings for the next three years.

Gerry Rafferty is a huge talent, but a reluctant star. Management struggles and sundry other hindrances limited his output, but couldn't avert the Scot from releasing two legendary singles - the Tarantino-ized "Stuck in the Middle With You" and the unforgettable "Baker Street," the latter included on this record. Just a glimpse of John Patrick Byrne's cool cover art lets the listener know City to City houses Rafferty's day in the sun as he conquers the world one metropolis at a time, his guitar and amp in tow. Setting out in his apocalyptic "Ark,".

Gerry Rafferty’s recorded legacy contains many highlights, but none shines brighter than his most famous solo release, City to City. This superbly realized song collection offers the most complete showcase of the Scottish singer/songwriter’s diverse talents, blending Celtic folk and American country sounds with elements of orchestral rock and smooth pop balladry. There’s an authentic note of joy and gratitude heard in the old-fashioned feel of Mattie’s Rag and the galloping, fiddle-driven spirit of the title tune.

A Gerry Rafferty quote I was able to read, 'Many thank to everybody who helped the making of this album and curses to those who hindered'. The album songs feel personal, touching and very relateable, also sad especially, 'Night and Day (almost a religious feel). The sax is smooth and delivers the soul.
