English Title. Composed by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina in honour of his patron, Pope Julius III. Published with a dedication to Julius in Palesrina's Missarum liber primus (Masses Book I) in Rome in 1554 by Valerio and Alysio Dorico. Despite the claim on the CD that this is DDD, this is an old analogue recording from 1974. See:http://listserv.uh.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind9802D&L=mahler-list&P=R385for more information about the fraudulently described recordings by the Pilz/Vienna Master Series.
