Aurinko (1992) is an album by the Finnish rock group CMX. The word "Aurinko" means "The Sun" in Finnish. The album cover depicts a cross section of a pineapple. The album was the first to mark a considerable move towards more mainstream rock from the band's hardcore roots, with more streamlined approach to songwriting and distinctibly more vocal singing style in most tracks. Also, Aurinko featured one of their biggest future live hits, "Ainomieli".

Moving from independent Bad Vugum label to international EMI might be a deed that many hardcore fans surely won't accept. However, this album, succeeding the excellent Veljeskunta, is definitely a must-get for all hard rock fans. Aurinko, in its own way, is almost like Veljeskunta, but with better production and smoother sound.

Seen from the 12-year perspective, I must say that my relationship with the CMX albums have been "updated" only on Aura and the progressive double album Dinosaurus Stereophonicus (2000).
