Seventeen Seconds is the second studio album by British alternative rock band the Cure, recorded at Morgan Studio and released on 22 April 1980 by Fiction Records. For Seventeen Seconds, Robert Smith co-produced for the first time with Mike Hedges. After the departure of original bassist Michael Dempsey, Simon Gallup became an official member along with keyboardist Matthieu Hartley. The single "A Forest" was the band's first entry in the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart.

During Seventeen Seconds, we honestly felt that we were creating something no one else had done. From this point on, I thought that every album was going to be the last Cure album, so I always tried to make it something that would be kind of a milestone. I feel Seventeen Seconds is one of few albums that genuinely achieved that.

Album Seventeen Seconds. Seventeen Seconds Lyrics. Time slips away, and the light begins to fade And everything is quiet now Feeling is gone, and the picture disappears And everything is cold now The dream had to end, the wish never came true And the girl starts to sing. Seventeen seconds, a measure of life Seventeen seconds.
