Curtis is the debut album by American soul musician Curtis Mayfield, released in September 1970. Produced by Mayfield, it was released on his own label Curtom Records. The musical styles of Curtis moved further away from the pop-soul sounds of Mayfield's previous group The Impressions and featured more of a funk and ed sound. The album's subject matter incorporates political and social concerns of the time.
A friend of mine is a little more "distant" or non-specific about the person. Examples: My friend Kalinda lives in Washington. A friend of mine from college lives in Wash. There is no major difference in meaning between my friend and a friend of mine – only some subtle differences in usage. A friend of mine is a little more distant or non-specific about the person. A friend of mine from college lives in Washington. In the first sentence, we say the friend’s name – Kalinda. It’s more specific and more personal. In the second sentence, we don’t say the friend’s name if it’s not so important in the context of the conversation
Friends of Mine Lyrics. And we brake for passing cars In the pistol ripping chase I regret the drugs you lost So I skipped our second date
Instead I say "a friend of mine" . Can we say "some friends of theirs" instead? I wonder if "friends of theirs" is sufficient.
We say 'a friend of ours/theirs' (not 'a friend of me/you/him' et. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday. A friend of mine is getting married. not 'a friends of me') We went on holiday with some friends of ours. to say that you do something yourself instead of somebody else doing it for you. For example: Brian usually cuts his own hair. he cuts it himself; he doesn't go to the hairdresser) I'd like to have a garden so that I could grow my own vegetables. 2 We must a relation of yours. 3 Henry borrowed a book of mine. 4 Anne invited some friends of hers to her flat. 5 We had dinner with a neighbour of ours. 6 I went on holiday with two friends of mine. 7 Is that man a friend of yours?
26 Featuring & Presenting. 2 Conducting & Leading. I got into Curtis in the early '80s when I saw a bunch of his albums cheap in a record shop in Manchester. All his early '70s classics for 79p each, brand new, I couldnt resist. In 1983 I was lucky enough to see him perform at the Glastonbury festival. It was so sad to see his awful decline. RIP Curtis - you were one of the best. Ответить Уведомить меня Helpful.
