Carcass : Reek of Putrefaction,альбом, рецезия, трек-лист, mp3, тексты песен. Reek of Putrefaction is one of those albums classed as legendary or influential due to its proximity to the start of a specific genre or style, or one that’s been copied so widely that the original idea is almost lost within reams of copyists and wannabes. Carcass would later create some essential death metal cuts, such as Symphonies of Sickness and Necroticism, but their debut reeked of grind, and ugly grind as it was. Its sound is truly horrifying, a cauldron of gurgled growls and screams, played over a raw, hurtling soundtrack of grinding riffs and thundering blastbeats.

Reek Of Putrefaction Lyrics (1988). Lyrics to the Full Album on one page). Regurgitation Of Giblets. Gangrenous abscesses Paralysis sets in More carnage and bloodshed And the reek of molten skin Frenzied detruncation Dispeptic, charred and black Terminal putrescence Psychotics carve and hack. Osteoporous enzymes release deadly secretions As the clotted parasites devour the excretion Emanation, suppuration - blood starts to gush My nocturnal dysentry is unleashed on this mush.

Reek of Putrefaction is the debut album by British extreme metal band Carcass. It was released by Earache Records in July 1988. When released, Reek of Putrefaction reached No. 6 on the UK Indie Chart, establishing Carcass as one of the pioneers of the grindcore genre. The late BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel declared it his favourite album of 1988, in an interview for British newspaper The Observer.

Reek of Putrefaction was re-released on CD for the first time in 1989 by Earache Records (ca. no. MOSH 18CD for the uncensored version, GMOSH 18CD for the censored cover). The CD (76:25) contained both, the "Symphonies Of Sickness" and the "Reek Of Putrefaction" album, but omitted the "Reek Of Putrefaction" tracks 5, 6, 8, 13, 19 and 21. lyrics here are taken from the booklet. When released, Reek of Putrefaction reached on the UK Indie Chart, establishing Carcass as one of the pioneers of the grindcore genre. Reek of Putrefaction was recorded in four days at a small studio in Birmingham. According to Bill Steer, the studio's engineer "ruined" the record, especially its drum tracks

Album Symphonies of Sickness. The Reek of Putrefaction Lyrics. Snorting the stench of latent effluvium And maturing damp fumes This foul menage forces tears to your eyes As the corpse's gas are exhumed Intoxicated by foul body odours And the nauseating tepid whiff Pinching your nostrils as you irrigate flatus From the emaciated stiff.

Album · 1988 · 22 Songs. Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious.

While Reek of Putrefaction see's Carcass already at a mature level lyrically and musically, this debut is only the first step in the evolution of this ever changing band. With the help of Reek of Putrefaction and it's abnormally strong content, Carcass as able to evolve their sound even further, with each successive release taking giants strides forward in style and ability. most definitely proves to be a debut worth repeated listen. The bad production doesn't work in favor of the album, and all the solos sound like crap. Still, this is a grindcore landmark. illmitch October 28th 2009.

Can someone show me where to get the FDR CD of this? I can't even find it listed!

Wrathshaper
Did they use pics of real corpses on the cover? Or are they the guys themselves?

Alsanadar
The pictures are all real. They're from autopsies mostly. None of the band as far as I know.

This record is a good example of when undesired production quality ends up adding something to the end result, at least for some people. Initially when this came out, I thought that the 'production' on it was intentional. However, after having a conversation with Bill Steer at a Carcass gig in 1989, he made it clear that the production was not as they intended, and in fact (as hinted at in the album credits for the studio), it was a struggle for them to just get something on tape - apparently they had to rerecord parts of it and generally struggle with the recording. Carcasses later records probably show the bands desired sound, much more defined and 'sharp' sounding. However, intentionally or unintentionally, the sound of this release just fits in perfectly with the concept. It sounds raw, indistinct, purified. In the fast sections, the instruments decay into one claustrophobic mush, only the cymbals and vocals escaping the soup. Getting past the splattered mush of sound, the album has some classic mid tempo 'mosh' sections (perhaps the best example is in "Psycopathologist"), and early use of the pitch shift effect making the vocals sound like the undead from Evil Dead II and 'Bub' from "Day Of The Dead" are on vocals. There are some crazed out-of-nowhere kill frenzy guitar 'solos', and even though there are usually many tempo changes and sections in each track, there seems to be a point to the intricacies, and the tracks hang together through the changes. Finally, through all the heavy riffage and gargling, the humor in this release is unmistakable, which just tops it off nicely. "Burnt to a crisp, Your hair is singed, Devouring your scalp, Receding your fringe" Top marks.

Good review. I had heard something similar in regards to the production of this album, namely that the first session for it had to be completely scrapped. At that time there were few engineers who had much experience with extreme metal, let alone something like this. I grew to love Reek, as xpmule stated I couldn't get past the production at first. Portions of Reek were included as a bonus on the Symphonies of Sickness US release and I would just skip those. However, I bought one of the Earache vinyl reissues (not the most recent, the first group from the mid 2000s) with the lyrics and artwork and had to reassess my opinion. Being able to follow along with the lyrics is pretty enjoyable, and the humor in Carcass' lyrics cannot be understated. One of those raw recordings that is so wrong it is right. Thanks again, good work!

What else did you talk about ? As much of a carcass fan as i am i could never get into this one.. production is way too rough for me. Im curious if Bill told ya any interesting stories ? The first time i seen any live work from these guys was when they were touring Heartwork and i hate live music but i gotta say they rocked !On "wake up" they have No Love Lost live and damn do they sound tight live (or did i should say they broke up long ago)
