The band released only one full length album, The Merry-Go-Round (album) (1967). The Merry-Go-Round – Listen, Listen. While we’re still at it, Missing You is another piece of classic Britsike, sounding like one of the best Idle Race tunes that Jeff Lynne has never written, while Let’s All Sing and ’Til The Day After, take it a coupla years further, towards the Badfinger-pickin’ sound. As a bonus, besides the album version, the kaleidoscopic audio puzzle Time Will Show The Wiser, comes in its mono single version too. Anyway, after a long while, The Merry-Go-Round goes round again, so don’t let yourself miss it once again.
25. She Laughed Loud. The material on the Merry Go Round recordings isn't radically different from what Rhodes did as a solo artist, although there are more rock and psyche garnishes on the songs and the songs aren't as introspective. But they all radiate with Rhodes' uncanny knack for melody and hooks. The Merry Go Round was a good band featuring a GREAT songwriter in Emitt Rhodes. Most of the songs are terrific, with "Live", "Time Will Show The Wiser", "You're A Very Lovely Woman", "Mother Earth", "Pardon Me", "Textile Factory", "Someone Died", "Holly Park", "Mary Will You Take My Hand", "In Days Of Old", "'Till The Day After", "She Laughed Loud", "Listen, Listen", and "Missing You" being great songs, in my opinion.
