The recordings for Arturo Toscanini The Essential Recordings were all made for RCA Victor between 1929, when ArturoToscanini was 62 years old, and 1952, when he was 85, and provide a great representation of his repertoire preferences. Chronologically by work, this collection begins with a live concert performance of the second act of Gluck s Orfeo ed Euridice, which had had its premiere in 1762, and end with Samuel Barber s ever-popular Adagio for Strings (an arrangement of the second movement of the String Quartet, op. 11), of which Toscanini himself conducted the world premiere in 1938

Arturo toscanini - the essential recordings 20 CD new+. Toscanini/nypo/NBC sy. rch. Arturo Toscanini gilt neben Wilhelm Furtwängler als der einflussreichste Dirigent des 20. This collection of Arturo Toscanini’s essential recordings marks the 150th anniversary of the conductor’s birth in 2017 as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the NBC Symphony Orchestra – the last organisation with which he had a long and fruitful relationship. It is also the 60th anniversary of Toscanini’s death. In most of his repertoire, Toscanini conducts the NBC Symphony and there are some outstanding examples of his work with the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra

Arturo Toscanini Collection, Vol. 67-70: The Philadelphia Orchestra Recordings. While these recordings of Arturo Toscanini leading the Philadelphia Orchestra were always a matter of pride to RCA - look, here's America's best-known conductor leading one of America's best-loved orchestras! - they are also something of an embarrassment to RCA - look, here's America's best-known conductor leading an orchestra that's not. the NBC Symphony, the orchestra he hand picked and we paid for, and sounding a heck of a lot better. What does sounding better mean? It means sounding more polished, more together, more colorful, more comfortable, and a whole.
